The Mixolydian Mode
Happy, but not too happy. Major in tonality but slightly darkened by the Minor Seventh (♭7).
You can get to the Mixolydian Mode by either:
- Adding a Perfect Fourth (4) and a Minor Seventh (♭7) to the Major Pentatonic,
- take the Major Scale and flatten the seventh (7➔♭7),
- start on the fifth degree of the Major Scale and adjust the key.
- start on the seventh degree of the Minor Scale and adjust the key.
